May 30 - Edinburgh to Inverness

Pack up and a short uber ride to the train station, our ScotRail train leaving from platform 16 right on time at 10:32. Oh what confusion arriving at the first class car “A”. We had first class tickets with reserved seats, it’s a small cabin at one end of the car, and on entering the car is full but for 2 seats we are in window seats next to a couple from California. There is no place to store luggage… and we have 2 large and 2 small bags, well the small bags could go in the overhead shelf, except they are all full… I tried but no even the small big bag doesn’t fit so I got out to the rail staff ask her what do I do with these 2 large bags. She says put them wherever you can, under the table? No then there’s no room for your feet.. no can’t put them in the aisle… well you can just put them out in between cars on the floor. Ok well there are 3 people and their bags waiting to get in the car as there are 3 people who are not supposed to be here, they have first class but not reserved seats so they should go in the first class car at the front of the train… so wait for them to get out with their 6-7 bags now there is room for our small bags on the shelf. Wow what a change from the LNER first class service! Anyway, the ride was awesome out the windows through Cairngorn National Park scenery like you've never seen before... lots of sheep and mountain goats... rocks hills and streams... at times forests but mostly rocks...
